Toko Hung graduated from Dept. of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University, but she soon switched course from an engineer to a designer. Toko participated in the development of several rhythm games as a game designer, and is currently working at RNOVA Studio, as the designer / marketing of the rhythm game Lyrica.
She's also involved in a few cross-industry gamification projects on a part-time basis. Won a trivia / Jeopardy-like competition. Toko hopes to combine actual knowledge and game as a media to make positive changes on society.
In recent years, games have become something that are not just about entertainment, but also media carrying valuable knowledge and information. RNOVA Studio's title Lyrica, is one such game -- combining the unique music style from "Han Chuang Culture and Art" and the rhythm game genre, creating something new and special on the market.
In this 30-minute talk, we will discuss the ways of designing game mechanics from a specific cultural or historical themed context, using Lyrica as an example. And also, how to find the unique selling proposition and the niche for your game. We hope we can create more discussions in this area, paving the way for the designers and developers going down this direction.
Note: This session will be conducted in Mandarin.
