Brian Lee is the co-founder of indie game studio SIGONO, and has been developing games for many years. He loves novel writing, and with the vision of "using stories to create experience, and bringing happiness to both himself and people alike", he developed the narrative-driven, post-apocalyptic sci-fi series OPUS: The Day We Found Earth and OPUS: Rocket of Whispers, in the hope of moving players with sorrowful-yet-heartwarming stories. The games won 2 Best Narrative awards from Taipei Game Show Indie Festa, selected by Famitsu Platinum Hall of Fame, received App Store world-wide features and got Standout Indie nomination in Google Play Awards 2018.
What is game narrative? We will be sharing our experience on the presentation and the narrative design of OPUS: Rocket of Whispers, and talking about 3 core issues during the development: 1) How do worldbuilding, plot and characters create gameplay? 2) How to organize and design gameplay with editor tools? 3) How do the tools support a small team and collaborative work? We welcome you to join us, see our creative trenches and take away from our numerous mistakes, and hopefully you'll leave with some new design ideas and inspirations.
Note: This session will be conducted in Mandarin.
